Skyline Recordings are so proud to release (May 5th) this phenomenal cover of the classic Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams’, which has been reworked in the most exciting way, by our very talented, rising star, Betty Black.
Black’s magical and original touch is exciting, sassy, and sexy. She’s given ‘Sweet Dreams’ a fantastic sixties vibe; where you hear both funk and gospel, with an up-tempo beat and heavy instrumentation – horns, bass, drums, alongside her amazing vocals, making the track utterly irresistible. By far one of the best alternative versions of this immense song.
The word back from those that have already heard this gem, tip it to be one of the top summer tunes. Oh yeah.
Betty said goodbye to her fame as Elisabeth Troy, the Queen of Garage; and the ‘featured artist’ on many hits (‘Crazy Love’ ‘Sincere’); instead, she is now loving her rebirth as a stunning solo artist – as is everyone else. She joined forces with the talented UK funk outfit, The Family Fortune, the masters of which are two of the most sort after session musicians, Andrew Ross and Ralph Lamb. This resulted with their Britfunk, very modern and dangerous version of Cry Me A river (released September ’22). Cry Me A River won Craig Charles's crown of ‘BEST funk song of 2022’, as well as being gratefully appreciated and played on almost every great independent record station (Mi-Soul, London Music radio, etc).
