A. Fusion - "Dedos" (4:12)
B. Carlos Franzetti - "Dedos" (3:42)
Many of you may be aware of Totem's 'Dedos', a Uruguayan funk-rock classic full of bustling, B-boy ready drums, heady licks and throaty lead vocals. It was hugely popular in South America following its 1971 release and inspired countless cover versions, two of which are showcased on this must-have Vampi Soul "45". On side A you'll find Chilean combo Fusion's interpretation from 1975, a heavier Latin funk interpretation full of heavy percussion, jaunty organ stabs, fuzzy horns and quirky flourishes. Over on the reverse you'll find Carlos Franzetti's equally rare interpretation, a slightly more expansive and fleshed-out jazz-funk interpretation that first time round was only ever released in Argentina.
