The elusive and enigmatic Brazilian producer ¡ÆCoastDream¡Ç resurfaces this spring on X-Kalay with his third EP, and arguably best work to date.
CoastDream has garnered something of a cult following of late; his instantly recognisable brand of woozy 5am power house and DIY club tracks form a signature sound few can touch. We¡Çre super excited to welcome him into the X-Kalay family.
Title track ¡ÆSoft Moon¡Ç opens with those thundering CoastDream drums and a buzzing, infectious bassline before evolving into some seriously expansive blue sky house. Classic piano stabs, dreamy pads and woodwind-esque melodic interplay combine to carry us high into the South American sunshine.
A2 continues in a similar vein but leads us down a distinctly more tropical path. Bongos, shakers and that massive tom underpin the rhythm whilst we are serenaded on the breeze floating from a distant desert island, ¡ÆOh La La¡Ä¡É
On the flip, B1 takes us back to basics with a classic CoastDream club jam. More closely resembling the aesthetic of his earlier releases; ¡ÆAbout You¡Ç hits hard with punchy drums, that trademark kick, and a basement groove that just cannot be ignored.
Closing things out ¡ÆLa Esperanza¡Ç launches a real curve ball; splintered breaks and growling bass paying a bone shattering homage to the darkest of 90's jungle >:)
