"Fronted by long-time collaborators Françoise d¡ÇArgent and Benny Badge, ¡ÈSo Good To You¡É showcases an evolution for Silver Linings and the duo's signature Soul-Boogie sound.
Following their debut on Gulf Point with 2014¡Çs ¡ÈSleepless¡É, Benny made the sketches for ¡ÈSo Good To You¡É during an extended pit-stop in Manchester, from which he returned with a sound palette affected heavily by the rainy city¡Çs disposition for synthetically fused Jazz and electronic music.
Bolstered with session work by fellow Melbourne locals Harvey Sutherland (Keys, Drum Programming), Silentjay (Saxophone), Lachlan Peavey (Bass) and more, these drafts became an intricate production that would see elements of Soul, Fusion and Electro layered with classic R&B arrangements and production etiquette.
Describing the result of this unique ensemble can only be done by looking at its highlights. Moments such as ¡ÈStart It Over¡É and the brooding ¡È34th Floor¡É are an ode to UK Electro-Jazz; there¡Çs the Sade-esque ¡ÈWaiting For Your Love¡É; whilst ¡ÈThis Time¡É and ¡ÈSo Good To You¡É are a head-nod to Street Soul Legends Loose Ends and 52nd Street among others.
