Copenhagen’s Music For Dreams release the special vinyl edition of the first ever artist album from
Ibiza legend DJ Pippi. Entitled ‘Bocadillos Variados’, the 10 track double album showcases Pippi’sown style of deep soulful Balearic grooves and quality global house. Highlights include the funky newIbiza summer anthem ‘Cristal Palpita’, Balearic underground hit ‘La Serenata’ recorded with KennethBager, the Grace Jones influenced ‘Make U Smile’ with Tuccinelli and stunning soulful track ‘SoBeautiful’ featuring Barbara Tucker. The LP also features contributions from producers andmusicians J.L., Victor Martin (Eurythmics) and Ibiza luminary Cesar De Melero.Originally from Italy, DJ Pippi got his break in Ibiza when the management at Pacha heard one of hismixtapes back in the early 80s. He has since become synonymous with the rise of Pacha and Pippihas worked two different eras at the club. The first stint was between 1984 and 1987, the secondstarted in 1991 and continues to this day. He spent the intervening years as resident DJ at the open-air club Ku, now Privilege. After 30 years in Ibiza, Pippi is now an island institution and this summer canbe heard in residence at Pacha, Jockey Club in Salinas, Santos in Playa D’en Bossa, and also playingGlitterbox at Space. Pippi’s previous recording successes have included house anthems The Original‘I Luv U Baby’ and B-Tribe ‘Fiesta Fatal’, both worldwide dance hits.Pippi says: “The purpose of this album is to take the listener on a journey through Ibiza’s beautifulBalearic musical heritage, deeply and strongly influenced by black music, African, Mediterraneanand Middle Eastern sounds and culture.
