As a product of Melbourne’s effervescent music scene, Fantastic Man, AKA Mic Newman returns in 2015 with a four-track EP ‘El Tropo’ on his own Fine Choice label. Following in the vein of his previous release ‘Animal Language’; which saw extensive plays from Vakula, Axel Boman, Young Marco and Tornado Wallace. This release sees Fantastic Man dive deeper into the rabbit-hole, featuring more tropical percussions, subterranean basslines and artificial flutes than ever before. From the lead track ‘Snake Charmer’ with it’s whacked out rhythms, to the erratic modulations of ‘Donkey Punch’ through to the stripped back ambiance of ‘El Tropo’ and ‘Birds Of Paradise’ each track illustrates Newman’s diverse tastes and seamless ability to craft wonderfully exotic beats that keep you locked from start to finish.
