For the heads of deep, reputable house music driven by minimalism, groove and soul, Dean DeCosta is a name spoken about with the same regard as people like Steve O'Sullivan and Don Williams, having released on labels like Mosaic, Sushitech and now Styrax. The influential Berlin label has turned its curatorial eye to the past of late, and now some of DeCosta's material gets a new injection of life with Stryrax plucking some DDC classics for a four-track EP of music sourced from the producer's short, but influential production career (1999-2002). If you're new to Dean DeCosta's music this is a great starting point, while for those all too familiar with Costa's slinky moves, here's a chance to replace those worn, 15-year-old grooves.
