Formerly part of Spectral Empire, George Thompson has latterly made a name for himself as a cosmic wizard of some repute under the Black Merlin guise. Debuting the project on Sir Wevvers' Bird Scarer label in 2012, subsequent Black Merlin transmissions have appeared on World Unknown, Mike Simonetti's New Jersey and the label arm of Dalston fashion boutique to the well-heeled LN:CC. He makes for a perfect individual to launch the somewhat shadowy Common Thread label, an operation that has left mere crumbs of information scattered across the internet. Typically for the Black Merlin, both tracks here are tinged with an element of the disco noire - "Ice House" in particular will please those seeking some contemporary Giallo Disco thrills.
