Sam Shepard, aka Floating Points, is a producer who has made a name for himself with releases on Eglo Records, Pluto, Ninja Tune, Planet Mu and other prestigious labels. A genius in the electronic music scene with a doctorate in neuroscience and a Best New Music award from Pitchfork for his last album "Crush", he has also worked with John Coltrane's successor and one of the leading saxophonists in the spiritual jazz world, Pharaoh Sanders. His new album with Pharaoh Sanders, the spiritual saxophonist and successor to John Coltrane, is now available from Luaka Bop, the label run by David Byrne of the Talking Heads.
The beautiful performance by the London Symphony Orchestra, the delicate electronic sounds of Floating Points, and the deep saxophone tone of Pharaoh Sanders intertwine to create a magnificent 46-minute suite of nine songs.
The artwork is by Julie Meretz, a contemporary artist from Ethiopia who was selected as one of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" by Time Magazine in 2020.
